Another thing that you need to do to speed up your PC is to look for background programs. You need to disable or remove completely any program or TSRs that start automatically every time your PC boots. If you want to find out what programs are running in the background, their CPU usage or how much memory they are consuming, you need to open the Task Manager. In case you are running Windows 7, you may be required to run Resmon to establish the programs that are taking up a lot of space.

Moreover, you need to verify that the Device Manager is completely out of conflict. You are expected to look at the hardware conflict and if there is any conflict, you need to resolve these issues as they may be the causes of your PC running slowly. Doing the above things will ensure that you have a clean registry.
