How to Improve Your Home’s Wireless Connection

[ad_1]

Sometimes you will notice that the wireless connection in your home really isn’t that great. If the connection is getting really slow or you are dropping off the internet quite a bit, there are some things that you need to be doing that will help with this problem. Find out how you can improve your home’s wireless connection.

The first thing that you should try is putting your router in a central location in your home. Keep it in the middle of the house on the floor that you are using the internet the most on whether this is upstairs or downstairs. A centrally located router means that there is less distance and less objects in the way that could cause a weakened signal. Many times this should improve the quality of the signal quite a bit.

Limit the devices in the home that might be causing interference. There are things like microwaves and hand held phones that sometimes cause problems for your signal. Get a phone that does not have the same frequency as your router else the connection can sometimes become compromised.

Put a Wi-Fi booster into the part of the home that just doesn’t seem to have a very good signal. Generally this change will make you have a better quality signal in the parts of the house that are farthest from your router.

Change the channel on your router especially if you are around many neighbors that have a Wi-Fi signal. Many routers have about 10 channels so check them all and see if this improves things for you. If nothing else, you will at least know that in the future another neighbor won’t conflict with your signal as much.

You might have to look into upgrading your router and your Wi-Fi cards to something a bit more modern. In the past few years, this technology has become quite a bit better than before. Upgrade to get a stronger signal and better range.
